I'm very ambiguous about this track. It was the first one I wrote for 'Marooned On Samsara', in a time where a certain band we always get compared to were in limbo and I figured I'd fill some of the void they left behind.
In a way, it was written to flex my muscles and to see whether I could make the transition from 'gothic with metal influences' to 'balls out gothic rock'. I think I did succeed, even if the influence is showing a bit too much for my own comfort.
It nevertheless seems to be a fan favourite and the band has been tugging at me to incorporate it into the list of songs we will be playing live. After having given it a shiny spit 'n polish mix job in the past couple of days, I just might. Because influences showing or not, it just rocks. And even though the lyrics were written in unsuspecting times, they are all too relevant today, hence the subtitle 'Indignados mix'. Still, 'Misanthropia's' lyrics are an observation with a lot of self criticism embedded in them, NOT a political statement.
Enjoy, and then go out into the streets and stand up for yourselves.
